Who you’re dealing with
Open Studio is run by Marco Lüthi, Gutstrasse 172, 8055 Zürich, Switzerland (“we”). You can reach us at hi@luthi-mar.co. By using Open Studio you agree to these terms.
What Open Studio does
Open Studio makes business cards. You pick a design and make it yours, its words, colours, typefaces and letters, and download it as a PDF ready for the printer, with bleed. You don’t need an account. Your cards are kept in your own browser, not by us.
Making and printing cards
Making a card and downloading its PDF is free. You may print your card, as many times as you like, and use it for yourself or your business. The PDF holds its type as outlines, so printing it doesn’t need the fonts.
The designs stay ours. You may not sell them, offer them as templates, or use them to run a card service of your own.
Your cards live in this browser only. If you clear its data, or use another browser or device, they won’t be there, so keep the PDFs you need.
Buying fonts
The typefaces on your card, as you’ve set them, can be bought as font files: $9 for one font, or $7 each when you buy several at once (up to 4), in US dollars. Any VAT or sales tax that applies is included or added at checkout. Payment is handled by Stripe, and it isn’t a subscription.
We email the fonts to the address you give at checkout as soon as you’ve paid, and you can download them from the page you land on. Because they’re delivered straight away, by paying you agree that you can’t withdraw from the purchase once they’re delivered, as far as the law lets you agree that.
If a font doesn’t work, write to us and we’ll put it right or refund you. A refunded purchase’s download link stops working. Open Studio is sold through Typomat’s payment account, so your receipt and card statement may say Typomat.
What you can do with the fonts
The fonts are made by Typomat, which is also ours, and what you may do with them is set out in the Typomat Font License. They aren’t exclusive: someone else could end up with a typeface like yours.
What you write
The words on your card stay yours. You confirm that you have the right to use the names you put on it, and that your card doesn’t break the law or anyone else’s rights. We don’t check trademarks, and we don’t promise that a design is unique to you.
What stays ours
The Open Studio website, its designs and the Typomat engine stay ours, and these terms don’t give you rights to them beyond what’s written here. Please don’t attack the site, get round its limits, or try to get fonts without paying.
Availability and liability
We work to keep Open Studio running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or that we’ll run it forever. The PDFs and fonts you’ve downloaded keep working either way, so keep a copy. Open Studio comes as it is, and as far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect damage or lost profits, and our liability for a purchase is limited to what you paid for it. Please check your card before you print it: we aren’t responsible for printing costs. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn’t let us limit, such as for intent or gross negligence.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy says what we keep and why.
Changes
A new version of these terms, with a new date at the top, applies to purchases and use after that date. Fonts you’ve already bought keep the rights they came with.
Law
Swiss law applies, and the courts of Zürich have jurisdiction. Any rights you have as a consumer in your own country stay unaffected.
